NEWS CENTER – The state’s destruction of the environment also continues in Turkish-occupied Northern Kurdistan. In Şirnex, on the slopes of Cûdî, forests are currently burning after being set on fire by soldiers. Residents who tried to extinguish the fire or get it under control were prevented from doing so by the Turkish army. Videos show how the soldiers film themselves laughing in front of the forest fire. This tactic is not new in Türkiye’s war against the Kurdish population. Both in Northern Kurdistan and in the attacks in Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq), the Turkish army is specifically aiming to clear or burn down forests.
Now the iniciative Zarokên Agir has taken responsibility for the actions that set fire on the turkish Çanakkale forests and shared the following statement:
As part of the ‘Revenge Movement’ we started , we burned Çanakkale from 22 different places for the trees that were burned and cut down in Kurdistan, leaving it in fire, ashes and smoke! We set fire to the houses of the fascists who supported the enemy and voted, by encircling the villages against the bombardment and chemicals used in our mountains!
To answer in the language the enemy understands, to hold accountable for their past practices, to avenge our burned villages, destroyed cities, and killed people; It is the duty of us patriots who are honest and honorable.
Those who do not want to live in the deep betrayal of silence will continue to take revenge on the enemy by lighting a spark!
