NEWS CENTER – Defend Kurdistan Turin and the Internationalist magazine Lêgerîn are present in Venaus in Val Susa (Italy) during the “alta felicidade” festival alongside comrades NoTAV to defend the land and those who live it full of biodiversity from the projects of capitalist modernity that seek to destroy the region for profit.
They informed that will stay present for the day sharing flyers, magazines and books about the Revolutionary stuggle and it’s paradigm of the Democratic Nation and tomorrow will participate alongside of thousands of internationalists that will march against the TAV project in the region.
The No TAV movement originated in the Susa valley at the beginning of the nineties spontaneously from the protests against the construction of the new Turin-Lyon railway line , acquiring greater importance in 2005 also at the media level and extending, to a lesser extent, in other regions of Italy (Mugello, Genoa-Alessandria, Florence, Brenner, etc.) and in other European countries, such as France.
Already at the end of the eighties the idea was circulating of uniting the well-known French ” TGV ” with the Italian railway lines, in a single high-speed railway design at European level. The idea soon became a real political-economic project, supported by various local promoting committees, and ridden politically by the then president of the Piedmont Region, Gian Paolo Brizio , with the creation – within FS – of the dedicated company Treno High Speed SpA ; at the same time a committee against the project was born, called ” HABITAT “, mainly made up of technicians, professors, mayors, administrators and environmentalists. The Italian Society for the Frejus Highway Tunnel was also involved in the project, however already in the early nineties enormous splits and various divergent opinions immediately arose, which conveyed, in fact, in a single protest, called “NO TAV “.
